So we lost power, then had a tree fall on our house. Well, two trees,… one on each side. Roof damage, window damage, but no one was hurt and the house took the load well. Still dealing with cleanup, insurance, repairs, and the aftermath of 5 days without power.
Still gathering thoughts on what I/we learned and reinforced during the experience. Primarily, if you live in the woods have a generator and the means to hook it up to a heat source (primary or secondary). Have plenty of supplies and be able to eat out of your cupboard for at least a few days without much more than hot water.
Finally, know someone who has power where you can take hot showers, being clean helps with sanity, and sanity is a nice thing.
